That horrible trilogy blu-set can now well and truly be banished as Paramount rounds out this first trilogy with a picture that is every bit as good as those on the previous films 4K releases. It really does show how far we’ve come in terms of understanding what constitutes a ‘good image’ and with the technology and format to finally realise it, we’re continuing to get some truly outstanding refreshes of these older releases that really do warrant a double or even triple dip. I’m very pleased to say that yet again, this disc gives us Scream 3 as it always should have looked. Glorious. The Dolby Vision color grading brings new life to the image with a natural and eye-catching color grading which is far more exact, nuanced, and bold Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced Scream, Scream 2 and Scream 3 for Blu-ray release on March 29, tying in with the theatrical release of Scream 4, due out April 15. Comedy had always been a big part of the previous entries, but it never felt overt, coming more from the combination of smart characters and the situation they were placed in. Here though, not only do you have Parker Posey pratfalling like in a Jim Carrey movie, but shoe-horned in cameos from the likes of Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob hint at a level of smug-satisfaction, likely driven by studio honchos The Weinstein’s basking in the reflected glory of their golden goose and their place atop the Hollywood hills...granted these are almost blink and you'll miss ‘em, but it’s enough to show that Craven (or possibly new writer Ehren Krueger, replacing franchise stalwart Kevin Williamson) had completely changed his mind set to the prominent tone of the whole film. Penned by Ehren Krueger (' Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,' 'The Ring,' ' The Brothers Grimm'), this sudden shift in focus away from Sidney is a bit bizarre since the closing moments reveal the world revolves around her and her mother. But as mentioned earlier, there is plenty of fun to be had in this third installment. The best scares are early on with Sidney's chilling apparitions, but they turn out not to serve much purpose except to freak out the audience. Parker Posey as Jennifer Jolie playing Gale Weathers is a great character and offers a few facetious observations about actors portraying real-life people. And there's also the fun game of name that star in a cameo with Lance Henriksen, Carrie Fisher, Roger Corman, and Jay & Silent Bob of all people. Plot: What’s it about? Video: How does it look? Another "3" is present as well, this one filling the full vertical length of the front panel and Of course, there’s nothing wrong per se with this film – it very competently inserts Tab A into Slot B in doing what it sets out to do: be the now ubiquitous ‘legacy sequel’ (thanks to The Force Awakens, it’s a carbon copy plot of the original film with original cast members cameoing to hand the baton over to a new, younger cast to continue its fan milking for many more entries to come…). The kills are bloody, the holy trinity of original cast show up and do very little (with the exception of David Arquette who actually is fantastic as a very different Dewey Riley, possibly because he’s actually given a decent amount of screentime (unlike his returning co-stars Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox) and the new young cast are exactly like the old young cast, only with half the charisma and a quarter of the depth. the old Blu-ray palette, but here, the colors breathe in natural beauty and firm command of tonal accuracy. I do not have access to the original disc but it is very likely that this is the same DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless presentation from the 2011 disc. For A year after the murder of her mother, teenage girl is terrorized by a killer. A tabloid news reporter is determined to uncover the truth. Paramount is retroactively adding the Scream movies to 4K and in a nice steelbook case to boot. Purists will complain because the case is red. Then again purists complain about anything. Me? I call ’em like I see ’em. All of the Scream movies tend to have a nice balance of daytime, sun-kissed skies juxtaposed with the dark of night (and the red of blood). With this new 4K edition, gone are some of the things that plagued the earlier DVD and Blu-ray releases. The film has a much more theatrical look and feel to it with grain being all but eliminated, increased color bandwidth and improved detail. In short, it looks the best it ever has but still falls short of a modern release (but that’s OK, we’ll give them a pass). Audio: How does it sound?It's sad really when the first two movies in a series( Scream, Scream 2)start off strong — full of laughs as well as smarts — but the last entry ends the entire franchise with a whimper. The laughs and smarts are still there, but it all adds up to a silly conclusion that takes fans to a deep, dark past. It's a plot twist that comes completely out of left field and seems far too convenient to ever be taken seriously. Then again, according to Randy (Jaime Kennedy) in a posthumous video recording, all bets are off in trilogies. The rules don't apply because the point is to explore a deep, dark past, something that changes everything we know about the slasher series. Hence, Scream 3 fails to meet the expectations set by the previous two.

New specifications include 2160p/Dolby Vision video. One Having said all that, for every individual element of the image that is really solid, it never quite stands out as a top tier 4K image. There’s no searing bright HDR highlights, no mega-saturated colours to tantalise the eyeballs with, almost nothing to get that excited about whatsoever from a purely visual standpoint. Through no fault of its own, the image’s own sense of realism means we almost overlook how good it really is.
