About this deal

The 312GW is the dash cam solution for new or experienced motorists who want instant upload capabilities to social media, or their insurer. Market leading thanks to its connective capabilities and ease of use, this new dawn for dash cams simply reinforces Nextbase’s position as the most popular dash cam brand in the UK. Unplug the power cable, turn the Dash Cam on and time how long the Dash Cam stays on for. The time it takes for the battery to drain will help us identify the root cause I’d recommend using a separate Camera such as the 122 or 222 on the rear windscreen. You will need a separate power supply and SD card as it will not connect to your 312G, but can be used as a Camera facing rearwards. The prices are comparable with the Series 2 Rear Cams, and if you’d like to keep using your 312G, is the most viable option.

AT 60FPS/720P AT 60FPS HD RECORDING AND 140° WIDE VIEWING ANGLE - The 322GW has been designed to provide high quality, detailed images of your journey on the road with the 1080p/30fps and 720p/60fps F1.6 lens. The 140° wide viewing angle ensures that a wide coverage of the road ahead will be recorded for fantastic footage. If the Dash Cam does not appear as a drive on your PC, please press the reset button on the underside of your Dash Cam and try all the USB ports on your computer. Remove the SD card and press the reset button on the underside of the Dash Cam. Then turn the Dash Cam on. Please turn Parking Mode off and turn Screen Saver off as these could interfere with the test results. The Nextbase 222 is the next in the range. As far as features go, it is relatively similar with no WiFi or Bluetooth so you cannot connect it to your phone. It does, however, have upgraded specs as far as the hardware goes. The GPS allows you to see where the footage was filmed which can be seen side by side with the footage itself, it also records speed which could help in any accidents or insurance claims. The 622GW is the only dashcam in the range to feature a resolution of 4k, this allows for really crisp videos and you’ll be able to identify signs, faces and reg plates with ease. Another upgrade you’ll find in the 622GW that wasn’t features in the 522GW is digital image stabilization, this works much like it does on high end DSLR cameras to digitally make videos smoother and iron out the bumps. Only negative we can really find is the video at night isn't the best from the selection that we've tested, it glares a bit with light however it's by no means poor and is common across them all - see our video.

For the camera nerds, the 422GW has a better lens which has an f/1.3 aperture as opposed to f/1.6. Essentially, this means that more light enters the camera. That extra adjustment does have a big impact on the quality, especially under darker lighting. Please remember that after this test your Dash Cam will once again need charging as the battery will be flat. Personally I like the 202lite the best as it can last for around 50 minutes on battery power when new and uncooked, so long as you are aware of the issues at least you know what to look out for, if it acts funny shutting down with funny screens battery is getting duff usually first sign. One thing that is better about the nextbase I found was they worked with ANY sd card, my F770 won't and thinkware don't make larger than 64GB!! The internal hardware and software are where you’ll find the major differences as it’s the first in the series that features WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity, that’s where the GW comes from. This allows you to connect the 322GW to the MyNextbase Connect app and view your dashcam footage on your mobile phone. By comparison, the 222 dashcam requires you to take out the SD card and insert it into a laptop or PC.

Plug your Dash Cam in. Ensure the cable is plugged directly into the Dash Cam and NOT via the mount. The 122 is right at the lower end of the market and is a small, compact device that comes at a budget price. It has all of the essential features you need from a dashcam, including loop recording which writes over the footage you don’t need so you never need to delete the footage. If you need to keep footage, you can manually save it or the built in G-sensor can detect crashes and protect footage for you. Take your Dash Cam inside and plug it into mains power or a computer using the Nextbase provided USB cable. In the current series two range of Nextbase dashcam’s, the 622GW is the top tier device. This features the best camera resolution at 4k, the highest frame rate at 120fps and has a number of unique features such as What3Words technology and image stabilisation. We have two types of mounts available; a suction cup or an adhesive mount. The adhesive mount is considerably more durable and less prone to breakage. It also has intelligent parking mode that will monitor your vehicle when not in use and record any movements it detects. We recommend the official Nextbase hardwire kit for this to prevent your battery from draining. Does anyone know what the normal battery life would be on this cam as surely it should be greater than 3 minutes. One of our favourite things about the series 2 dashcam range is that it’s really easy to understand. For every model you go up, from 122 through to 622, you’ll get more features or better specs. If you look at the options on most nextbase they have a few timer options to shut down after power lost, I know on my 402 there was a 5 minute option, trouble is it would not last 5 minutes even after being fully charged driving for hours, it is normal for the cams to get warm, I have 5 nextbase in family, all rubbish constant problems, constant repairs, constantly unreliable the biggest problem is ?, BATTERIES, charging circuit cooks the batteries, I had 4 in a year Nextbase have reserved many of their best features for the 622GW which was announced later than the other devices in the Series 2 Dashcam range and only went on sale in 2020.

If the dash cam does not appear as a drive on your PC, please press the reset button on the underside of your dash cam and try all the USB ports on your computer. They follow the same pattern as the series 1 range, with 6 devices covering every segment of the market from the budget 122 up to the highest spec 622GW. The battery will only receive charge when the iN-CAR CAM is connected to power, please reconnect the car adaptor and leave the iN-CAR CAM turned on.
