The Seiko SRPD73 comes with a 42.5mm stainless steel which is almost identical to the predecessor, with one core difference being that it has drilled lugs which was well-received news when it first came out as it makes it so much easier to remove and change straps and bracelet. The watch keeps the dial printing at a minimum, to only include an applied Seiko logo, the new Seiko 5 logo, and the text ”Automatic”. The Seiko 5 SRPD73 is a sporty dive-watch-inspired timepiece based on the insanely appreciated SKX platform. It’s part of the new Seiko 5 diver collection and combines design elements from Seiko’s predecessor with modern technology to make it more reliable and durable. I'm afraid the above statement is incorrect. They are produced in Japan, Malaysia, but also by TMI in China. More recently there are also NH35 with unmarked rotors apparently not produced by TMI, and there has been a bit of speculation where they are being made. (Note: With "unmarked" I mean movements that have no country of origin markings, but also have no "TMI" markings. With that said, the SRPD73 looks more dive watch than it actually is in a way. But having its price in mind, it’s still a watch with great performance. In typical Seiko fashion the lume is also very bright. The bezel functions just fine, even though the coin edge could have been a little better. Leather strap watches tend to fit without a problem for most wearers. However, watches fitted with metal bracelets often need adjusting to get the perfect fit.
The dial is pleasant, with the typical Seiko diver pattern, but unlike most most of the Seiko divers it has a faint sunburst pattern. The case is brushed on top, and polished on the side. The bezel is aligned well, and there were no QC issues that I noticed. I don't think I need to say anything about the 4R36 movement. When purchasing a watch which has a metal bracelet with adjustable links, we will gladly adjust the watch bracelet to fit your wrist before sending the watch to you - free of charge!The new SRPD73 has been well-met and appreciated for its clean, minimalistic design, but more importantly for its similarity with the classic model. This is my first SRPD, even though I already own an SRPE53 and an SRPG27, as well as other dive watches with NH35 movements.
