About this deal

A music festival has been held to remember him by Blood and Honour including one set up in 2016 near Ely. Skrewdriver briefly adopted a rocker/ biker-influenced look around the time they released the EP Built Up Knocked Down (1979). The Woolwich Odeon attack of 1980 was described by a prosecutor at the Old Bailey as a "serious, organised and premeditated riot". On New Year’s Day, it was reported on various social media outlets that Merv Shields, a British musician who played in several neo-Nazi bands, reportedly died of Covid-19, according to social media reports. Ian was also attacked often by leftists, and in more than one case saw his attackers lying on the ground, bleeding and broken.

Each featured the letters L and G on either side of a Celtic cross, the British Movement's answer to the swastika. He was best known as the front-man of Skrewdriver, a punk band which, from 1982 onwards, he rebranded as a White power and Rock Against Communism band.Ian Stuart was an ordinary, White working-class British lad who inspired many youngsters of the 1980’s and 1990’s. It was cooked up by a bunch of us, including the band’s then management and the photographer Peter Kodik.

As clashes between police and striking miners becoming increasingly bitter, football hooligans across the country were fighting it out with unprecedented ferocity. Everybody always knew gay people, but they just didn't know it," says Max Schaefer, whose 2010 novel Children of the Sun features a character fascinated by Crane. Opportunity knocked when he salvaged some old Steel capped boots that he pulled out of a School bonfire. Skrewdriver was instrumental in setting up Blood and Honour, a network of bands promoting militant neo-Nazi ideas through music and concerts.

It was not the quality of the music that made the event memorable, but the fact that it was the first ever RAC concert. In particular the openly neo-Nazi BM, under the leadership of Michael McLaughlin, was actively targeting young, disaffected working-class men from football terraces as well as the punk and skinhead scenes for recruitment. The new scene was made up mostly of ex-Skinheads who had out grown their crops and were listening to Northern Soul music. Either follow Odin, or piss off out of our struggle for freedom against the evil that you promote in our individuals. Unfortunatly, the other band members weren't as keen on the move and in 1976 The Tumbling Dice disbanded.

The event held near Haddenham had around 350 people attend, and once anti-racism group Hope Not Hate got wind of the proceedings they made sure that attendees to the festival were moved on from various pubs in Ely where they had congregated after the festival. The man’s body was found and he was later identified as Proud Boy Chadwick Seagraves, who attempted to dox and harass activists and LGBTQ persons whom he declared as being antifa, including one person who was a student at the North Carolina State University where after of a doxing against him it was discovered he was and employee in the school’s IT department. Crane's stature was such, however, that even at this point fellow passengers were careful to keep their distance.Around about this time the Socialist Workers Party (SWP) had set up ‘Rock Against Racism’ in an attempt to recruit gullible youngsters into marxist politics. On the surface, the idea of a gay man embracing neo-Nazism might appear baffling and self-defeating. I recently watched the Disney+ series ‘Pistols’ on TV, a dramatised story based on guitarist Steve Jones’ memoirs of the infamous punk band the Sex Pistols, and it set me thinking about how Rock Against Communism (RAC) started in this country.
