About this deal

Fans of Corsair products and the iCue RGB system won't need to be convinced to buy this kit. It looks fantastic, and though it won't set speed records, this kit should have many years of life ahead of it. You'll want to go with something faster if you must have every last drop of performance for a high-end rig, but for mainstream DDR5 buyers, Corsair won't let you down. Firstly, you should use a dual-channel kit wherever possible. That goes for both DDR4 and DDR5 systems. That will ensure you're getting the most out of the best CPUs for gaming. For an Intel DDR5 system, a good kit around the 5200MHz range will be fine, while for a high-end system, you'll want something a little faster at 6000MHz or even 6400MHz if you really want to get every last drop of performance. Do I need RGB LEDs on my memory DIMMs? No, it won't. Even though both types have 288 pins, DDR4 and DDR5 memory is electrically incompatible. The two types have a different notch positions, to prevent anyone from inserting a DDR5 module into a DDR4 motherboard, or vice versa. How much RAM do I need? For me, it's (mostly) worth the extra money over a 4800MHz kit, but you'll need to measure its value against what other brands and speeds are available when you buy... the market is just so volatile right now. Notably, Corsair DDR5 carries a premium that can vary significantly from market to market. If you don't mind paying a bit extra over a bland kit, the Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB kit will do the job, but it must be shown off in a windowed case. Lighting customisable with Kingston FURY CTRL software or with motherboard RGB control software. RGB customisation support through third-party software may vary.

DDR5 has come a long way since it was launched. It's now widely available, prices have dropped, and early BIOS niggles have been overcome. And then there’s the speed. When Intel's Alder Lake CPUs first launched, DDR5-6400 was about the maximum speed you could get, but forget that: DDR5-8000 kitsare now on the market. Not a bad improvement! The latest Corsair Vengeance DDR5 kits aren’t particularly flashy or exciting, however, there’s little that can rival it as far as the best budget DDR5 kits go. With its humble asking prices, more-than-repectable performance, variety of speeds and capacities, combined with worldwide availability, this is a kit to consider if you’re watching your spending. In addition to the previously mentioned capacity increase, DDR5 will offer around twice as much bandwidth as DDR4. Since most consumer applications are hardly bandwidth-starved, and those that are typically favor lower latency, the greatest performance gain will likely occur in games, when using integrated graphics. As the next evolution in DRAM (dynamic random-access memory), DDR5 enhances data processing applications that require substantial amounts of memory bandwidth, such as machine learning, artificial intelligence and big data analytics. DDR5 offers faster speeds, immediately delivering an 85% or higher increase in performance over DDR4. With a data rate (speed) range of 4800 to 8800MT/s, DDR5 delivers higher-performance memory and is geared to increase reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS). Total cost of ownership: Our Micron 96GB DDR5 DRAM technology is optimized for TCO (total cost of ownership) in enterprise and cloud service provider environments. Micron DDR5 memory is validated and available in 16/32/64GB and 24/48/96GB capacities.

For bandwidth, other memory manufacturers have quoted that for the theoretical 38.4 GB/s that each module of DDR5-4800 can bring, they are already seeing effective numbers in the 32 GB/s range. This is above the effective 20-25 GB/s per channel that we are seeing on DDR4-3200 today. Other memory manufacturers have already announced that they are sampling DDR5 with customers since the beginning of the year. DIMMs - Dual In-Line Memory Module, the physical circuit board that holds the RAM chips that plug into the slots on your motherboard. DDR5 offers benefits in many applications and is best suited for maximizing DDR5 server and workstation performance for AI, deep learning, high-performance computing (HPC), cloud computing, virtualized supercomputing, and in-memory database applications that demand the highest-speed real-time memory available.CL/CAS Latency - Column Access Strobe Latency is the delay between the memory controller requesting data from the RAM and the available data; the first number listed in a kit's timings. Though the names may appear similar, Graphics DDR5 (GDDR5) is an older, DDR3-based technology that’s designed for graphics cards. While DDR5 main system memory is primarily soldered to removable memory modules, or DIMMs, GDDR5 is soldered directly to graphics cards. Because CPUs and discrete video cards complete different tasks using their own RAM, these pools of memory are treated separately by the system.
