About this deal

Truth is pain—sharp and deep and merciless. Only love can ease the suffering, for love is the sharing of those truths.” i recommend quite literally ANY other horror novel written by a women / non binary / trans author and i promise you it’ll be a much more enjoyable experience. A story about two sisters who embark on a trip to find a key, hidden in a chest, to give to the mysterious man known only as "The River Man". I'll say no more. As well as reading and writing, she is an editor and publicist for Kandisha Press with her BFF Jill, where she is always on the lookout for new women’s voices for their anthologies. ALONG THE WAY THE OLDER SISTER IS GETTING POSSESSED AND SAYING WEIRD STUFF AS WELL AS SEEING HER DEAD BROTHER?

This is the story of a woman named Lori who has an unhealthy infatuation with a prison inmate named, Edmund. He’s not your garden variety “one and done” murderer. Edmund did unspeakable things to his female victims. It’s inconceivable why our protagonist Lori is so enamored with him. men write women so shallowly. this is the first book i’ve read by a man in a while and i won’t be doing it again. Having already proved himself a master of extreme horror with Full Brutal, in Gone To See The River Man, Triana shows he is able to paint his uniquely disturbing visions with a much broader palette. This gloomily atmospheric novel is an excellent and unnerving exercise in steadily mounting dread and an inexorable rendezvous with doom. It fuses family tragedy with phantasmagoric horror in a way that will linger long in memory. In short, this Triana guy is a serious contender.”

It is clear that Lori, the main character, is highly damaged. “Wanting to please a man, despite how difficult it was for her personally… well, if that wasn’t love, what was?” She believes that Edmund is meant for her, meant to be with her and love her, and that his murderous needs can be overlooked. She makes excuses for him and it is painful to behold, “What most would see as cruelties were actually signs of the deepest affections he could muster. Violence was his love letter. Death was all his soul.” This was like nothing else I’d read before!!! Beautifully written and immediately you’re immersed in the book from the beginning! Superb extreme horror writing that really delivers on providing a chilling and quite simply 'spine-tingling' experience in the grim and macabre world of the dark arts and beyond.

The shame cloud had never given way to the sunshine of self-forgiveness. So what was one more layer of smoke?”That’s what The River Man do. He ain’t gotta ask ya to do nothin’ evil. He just bring out the evil that’s already in ya.” River Man ain’t wantin’ nobody’s soul. What he wants is for your soul to be as bad as his. Ya get what ya want without havin’ to do anythin’ for him, but somehow he just brings out the worst in ya. Ya go rotten in your heart after dealin’ with The River Man.” It is a sarcastic jab at how she views herself and how her "ex-lovers" only wanted to be with her to increase their fame. Relaciones familiares tóxicas, celos, y mucha, mucha sangre, serán los pilares de Buscando al hombre del río. THEY MEET UNNECESSARY CHARACTERS ALONG THE WAY LIKE A FREAKING TWISTED EPISODE OF DORA THE EXPLORER. ( SERIOUSLY I SKIMMED OVER THESE CHARACTERS IDC AND YOU DONT CARE EITHER OTHERWISE YOU WOULDN'T BE READING MY SPOILERS LOL)

But she still holds onto the hope that something might happen that will change her life for the better. (or maybe stay) A chic has been a penpal with a prison inmate, who sends her to meet the River Man. The majority of the story is her and her sisters journey down the river. Lori is just such a fanatic. Her obsession is with Edmund Cox, a man of sadistic cruelty who butchered more than twenty women. She’s gone so far as to forge a relationship with him, visiting him in prison and sending him letters on a regular basis. She will do anything to get close to him, so when he gives her a task, she eagerly accepts it.

I was immersed in this intense dark tragedy with those two sisters. I was in the woods , and on the river , with them in the journey of their lives .I have just finished Gone to see the river man, and I have enjoyed it thoroughly! It had a great atmosphere and I think it was paced well, didn’t feel like it had boring or unnecessary parts.

If you ever get the chance to read this book, maybe you’ll understand my reaction. Gone To See The River Man will be one of those books that will haunt me for a long time. Even the ending didn’t make me feel better. LORI SO DESPERATE FOR P3N1S AND LOVE SHES ATTACHES HERSELF TO A SERIAL KILLER SHE MET THROUGH PENPAL CRAP AND GO TO SEE THE RIVER MAN BECAUSE THE BF TOLD HER TO RETURN A KEY. HER SISTER " NOOOO DONT WEAVE ME NOOO SISSY DONT WEAVE ME LIKE PETEY (BROTHER) DID* LORI IS FORCED TO TAKE HER SISTER ALONG She brings along her older sister, Abby, who clearly suffers mentally and physically from a childhood accident. The reader learns more and more about Lori as she embarks on her mysterious errand to prove to her new flame that she’s serious about her love for him.

To me that means she wasn't sure of whether or not she way ready for her life to end. She wants to stay, but at the same time she feels she isn't happy anymore. Edmund tells her she must go to his cabin in the woods of Killen and retrieve a key to deliver to a mysterious figure known only as The River Man.

Y así, dando bandazos entre pasado y presente, seremos testigos de hechos terribles a los que no daremos crédito. Some girls are fearful, others are brave. One girl’s a princess, the next one, a slave. But all girls are equal, when they’re down in this cave, until just one is left standing—The Prettiest Girl in the Grave." It's like the famous Shakespearean soliloquay about "To Be or Not To Be," where Hamlet considers suicide if it weren't for the mystery of "What dreams may come" - what follows death? and could it be worse than life?
