About this deal

To Be Human: Casting Blade Runner 2049 (HD, 17:15) – This is another interesting featurette, this time looking at the casting of the film, from the major roles to the smaller but equally as important ones. Starring: Harrison Ford , Rutger Hauer , Sean Young , Edward James Olmos , M. Emmet Walsh , Daryl Hannah Blade Runner (The Final Cut) is presented in 4K UHD courtesy of The Film Vault with a 2160p transfer in 2.40:1. This is for all intents and From Blade Runner to Blade Runner 2049 and the upcoming anime, here’s everything you need to know about streaming the Blade Runner franchise online I had seen Alien and that Blade Runner was also directed by Ridley Scott was part of the pitch my dad made in getting me to watch something I'd never heard of. Blade Runner wasn't scary. It wasn't set in space. It was set in this dark and ominous vision of a near future where humanity has all but abandoned the planet that spawned the species. The first time we meet the hero he's watching a giant blimp advertising a better life. It's heady stuff. While some criticize the film for being visually indulgent, style over substance, I would counter that those people just aren't really and honestly looking at the film. There's a lot of substance there, you just have to be paying attention. To that point, I can't watch this film distracted or allow it to be on with distractions around me. Cell phones down, lights off.

Unfortunately, those in the U.K. can no longer stream the original Blade Runner movie either. However, it’s pretty cheap to rent or buy digitally. But it's a film full of many moments of breathtaking vision. You'd have to search far and wide to find a film from 2017 that's this well realised. While Blade Runner felt small and contained, 2049 aims for an epic and sweeping quality that's not far off David Lean's widescreen images. For more about Blade Runner 4K and the Blade Runner 4K Blu-ray release, see Blade Runner 4K Blu-ray Review published by Jeffrey Kauffman on December 10, 2022 where this Blu-ray release scored 5.0 out of 5.O-ring slipcover branded with both the film title and The Film Vault's logo as well as numbering. This rigid clamshell box is emblazoned with newly Here’s a deep cut that even the most ardent "Blade Runner" fan may not be aware of. Before "Blade Runner 2049" hit cinemas, three short prequel films were made to promote its release, each taking place during a different year and plugging the gaps in what happened in the intervening years since the original’s story took place. The 4K Blade Runner is wonderfully vivid. Fittingly enough, a shot of the THX sign towards the end of the film looks electric blue in 4K and is relatively dull and faded in HD. Public Domain street photography of vehicles traveling on road between large buildings during nighttime Blade Runner 2049 captures that otherworldly sense of Blade Runner and in some respects it's better, if more straightforward than Ridley Scott's original. Multiple viewings allow you to soak up the film's details and 4K Blu-ray is the best avenue for that.

Audio Commentary with ‘Technical Crew’ including Lawrence G. Paull, David Snyder, Syd Mead, Douglas Trumbull, Richard Yuricich and David Dryer. While I won't go so far as to say that Blade Runner 2049 is as good as or better than the original Blade Runner, it gets pretty damn close. So close that the margin of difference is really only quantifiable to that moment of first discovery. As I detailed in my review for the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release of Blade Runner, I discovered the film under pretty unique and very memorable circumstances that made me an instant fan of that film. I didn't want to believe that Blade Runner 2049 could even come close to being as good as it is. I was expecting to walk out of the theater thinking "That was pretty good. They didn't screw it up!" In actuality, after sitting through the credits I walked out of the theater speechless, in a stupor. Blade Runner 2049 brought up so many thought-provoking ideas about heady issues and themes like love, having a soul, and what it means to be human that I needed to take a walk for a mile or two to process everything. But the bottom line feeling that was fueling my thoughts was just how incredible the film was. I just couldn't believe that it was actually that good. unjustified. The review score for extras has been lowered accordingly, along with the overall score. For more about Blade Runner 4K and the Blade Runner 4K Blu-ray release, see Blade Runner 4K Blu-ray Review published by Michael Reuben on August 30, 2017 where this Blu-ray release scored 4.5 out of 5. I've gotten to see the theatrical, Director's Cut, and the Final Cut in the theater projected from actual film prints. I've owned the film on VHS, DVD, Laserdisc, and Blu-ray. Like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, it's a film I will always buy. It's etched in the wood. As long as the next release offers up a significant discernible upgrade in picture and audio quality, my hard-earned cash will be spent. Even if the upcoming Blade Runner 2049 ends up being a subpar sequel, nothing can diminish my love and appreciation for this film. It'll always be a true classic in my book.

The featurettes are small but informative. The most interesting extra are the prologues, of which the 2022 short directed by anime legend Shinichiro Watanabe is the best.Despite their capacity for brutal violence, their childlike innocence and view of the world is perfect for this story. They’re presented as wild animals that need to be put down, yet by getting to know them just a little, you soon want them to survive.
