About this deal

You've conquered comic con. You binge watch Star Wars regularly. Now, it's time to get your geek on in the kitchen! Reeder pulls her inspiration from a multitude of sources: books, movies, television shows, and video games. If you haven't heard of a certain title, don't despair: Reeder includes a brief synopsis of each piece of media - and the food's place in it - in the recipe intro. While most of the source material only has one associated recipe, there is a little repetition ( Star Trek, Legend of Zelda, and Harry Potter receive the most attention). If you are homebound at the moment, this is a fantastic book of recipes to lift your spirits. The Geeky Chef Cookbook is such a joy to read and the recipes that accompany so many well-loved shows and games will add to your binge-watching or gaming experience. It is impossible to provide an exhaustive list without overwhelming you, but fans of Buffy, Outlander, Harry Potter, and Zelda will not be disappointed with this book. The different types of recipes are as follows: Bake the crust by itself at 375 degrees F for 7 minutes. Remove from oven, remove the pie weights, and set aside. This seems like a great time for cookbooks as we are all probably eating at home more. This entry has a fun twist. The author has created recipes around favorite books. Below are some examples:

Using a pastry roller, roll out the dough to fit a 9-inch pie tine and press the dough evenly into the bottom and sides of the tin. Cut off excess. Add pie weights or dry beans to keep the crust from warping. You’ve watched the TV shows and movies, played the video games, and read the books. Now it’s time to level-up your geek factor…into the kitchen. Whether you binge sci-fi TV shows, rewatch cult films, get addicted to MMORPGs, or read all the fantasy book series, The Geeky Chef Cookbook has your fictional food fantasies covered. What do I think of the cookbook?? I think it is awesome! If you love to cook or bake, and you are a geek for anything science fiction, then you absolutely have to have this book. It is available in Kindle or print. I highly recommend this book. Very unique! You can visit the author here www.geekychef.com/ I’m a huge geek, so when I saw this book, I knew I had to read it. I mean, geeky recipes inspired by fantasy works? Sign me up! It’s such a cute book full of fun recipes inspired by a variety of fantasy works. I love that there are dishes inspired by books, movies, games, and television shows.

I admit that I am 100% the audience for this book as I am a self-professed geek/nerd person. However! I will say that not only does this book tap into favorite series, films, and books of mine, but it delivers in the recipe department as well! These recipes, and the perfectly-lengthed descriptions for each, were a delight to read through, and I am excited to prepare several. Also, there is some nod to those of us who pursue plant-based living, and that is appreciated. As for the entrée, if you have started with the Plommek Soup why not cook some Gagh, a dish that any fun loving Klingon love. Other Desserts: The Chronicles of Narnia: Turkish Delight; Harry Potter: Treacle Tarts; My Little Pony: ChimiCherryChanga. Remove from heat, then add the butter and vanilla and stir some more, until both are completely incorporated. Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Race Point Publishing for this book in exchange for an honest review.

(I know some sound odd, but all of the recipes are suited to human tastes) If I had to say something negative at all, then it would be that there are no iZombie recipes in this book. But that is not negative after all because this can be taken as my appeal to Cassandra to maybe create a whole iZombie cookbook! Every episode starts off with Liv cooking, after all (pretty, pretty, pretty please?)

Eat your way through the most legendary foods from the worlds of science fiction, fantasy, and more, with over 70 recipes ofthemost delicious and nerdiest eats as realistically imagined by Cassandra Reeder aka The Geeky Chef. Champagne! Using thoroughly American ingredients like bourbon and apple cider, this delicious shooter I always like it when people take something they like, in this case food, and look in a lot of different places how other people are dealing with it. In the geeky chef cookbook, accompanying the blog, there is a collection of foods, both savory and sweet that has links with many fandoms. The book includes a cross referenced index which lists individual ingredients (and authors/literary references). The photography and illustration included in the book are -wonderful-, and the nerdy geeky commentary is amazing. The author is a geek, indeed.

The recipes themselves are easy to read and understand. They include a header bar along with prep info, yields and a description. Ingredients are listed bullet point in a sidebar. Measurements are given in US standard measures with metric measures in parentheses. Preparation instructions are enumerated step by step. Substitutions and alternative preparation or serving information are given in a footer bar at the end of the recipe.
