Well, this volume was a lot better than the first one, though I will admit the coin selling/exchanging storyline is really confusing. A second OVA was released in April 2009 as a prequel to the second anime season Spice and Wolf II, which aired 12 episodes between July and September 2009. The flow of the dialogs especially between the main characters Kraft and Holo is amazingly done, like when they're teasing each other or throwing quick hilarious comebacks or brainstorming for ideas all are wonderful to read and you'll even get a laugh out of it. She is definitely the star of the show, and the reason why I’ll continue to read this series for the time being. Longing for the northern lands of her birth, Holo the Wisewolf joins Lawrence as he follows the ebb and flow of trade through the countryside.

As the Medio Company's men and Yarei close in on them, Lawrence and Holo try to find their way out of Pazzio. The reader can really get a sense for what she wants and who she is by her reactions to events and by what she chooses to say.

As the Medio men prepare to kill Lawrence, Holo transforms into her true form - a giant wolf - and defeats them. Along with the fact that the main character looks and is spoken about as looking like a girl, I really hope the main character doesn't fall in love with her later down the line. The radicals within the company have made their move and deposed the conservative faction, all the while steering the northlands closer to the brink of open battle.

Facing financial ruin, Lawrence casts about desperately for the funds he needs to survive this latest disaster. The forests have no wildlife in them except for wolves, and maybe there are birds in the sky sometimes?There's some very subtle shifting in this which shows their relationship progress, but it's really subtle and thus overall, the relationship does feel quite slow. Fermi Amarti ( フェルミ・アマーティ, Ferumi Amāti ) Voiced by: Saeko Chiba (Japanese); Ryan Reynolds (English) Amarti, who like Lawrence mainly goes by his surname for business, makes his first appearance in volume three of the novels. So yes, we see these dramatic images of chess pieces being moved around the board but the actual motion this conveys is more like something out of a Phoenix Wright game, with the characters gesturing wildly and yelling over things that really seem more somber and restrained.

It is complex, but not convoluted (though, some of the things will seem that way in the animated series).
