About this deal

Fortunately for me, there were several readers who were very happy to point me in the right direction and this title was one that was highly recommended. This delightful new series captures the everyday - and unexpected - ups and downs of a Year Five classroom. Starting at the beginning of the academic year we join excited new-to-the-school teacher Mr Wolf as he meets his new class and gets to know them. With a UK publication date for Book 2, Mystery Club, yet to be announced I can hand-on-heart say that that will also be a huge hit with young readers and their adults who fall in love with this wonderful series after enjoying this. With calm intelligence and amusing, accessible realism, Steinke creates a cast in which any young reader will immediately find someone to embrace and a world that's invitingly recognizable.

Including a broad range of true-to-life characters, the children in Mr Wolf’s class will be easily recognisable to both adult and child readers, who will quickly grow to love both class and teacher. When the power of graphic novels was drawn to my attention on Twitter, I had no idea where to start. With basic dialogue, a soothing setting, and no more than six frames per page, this book is ideal for new chapter book readers and older struggling readers.

Aron Nels Steinke's debut is a perfect introduction to graphic novels for elementary school readers, who will laugh and empathize with Mr.Young readers should easily self-identify with fifth-grade teacher Steinke's varied and sharply observed characters and wryly perceived classroom minutiae. He's read them all, cover to cover numerous times and has in fact kept going back to them as well which is a pretty good recommendation in my eyes, especially with a kid who struggles with reading and books in general.
