With the 3 Hammersmith nights from 1976, 2 Philadelphia shows from 1977, the Toronto show from 1977 and the Rainbow theatre show from 1978, there’s a lot to listen to. Rock doesn’t need saving in 2024, but it’s nice to be reminded just how thrilling and relatable three chords and the truth can still be. As well as the full album, remastered by Andy Pearce and Matt Wortham, it featured two additional tracks from the period that were not originally included on the album (although they were later released on the Killers Live EP in 1981). The twin guitar attack of Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham, the rhythmic prowess of Brian Downey, and the lyrical genius of Phil Lynott make Thin Lizzy a band to treasure.

Live and Dangerous was released in 1978 and is arguably one of the best live albums of all time It was recorded in London and Toronto in 1977, during the tours accompanying the albums Johnny the Fox and Bad Reputation. In 2023 we get unprecedented access to the legendary Lynott-Downey-Gorham-Robertson line-up in full flight, opening their sets with show-stoppers ( Jailbreak and Emerald often in the first three), delivering favourites Still In Love With You and The Boys Are Back In Town before halfway, and climaxing with songs they hadn’t yet released: Baby Drives Me Crazy, Me And The Boys. It deserves to be there and I know many of you reading this will already have several copies of this album! The set, originally spread across two vinyl discs, but now on one CD draws from Lizzy's six studio albums released between 1973 and 1977, but majors on their '76 magnus opus "Jailbreak" which alone contributes five of the seventeen tracks.
