About this deal

He lost his way a bit as he struggled through the events in the story but he got himself back on track at the end. Rhett has been kind of a stoic and reclusive character up until this novel as he was in a long-distance relationship with his high school girlfriend, Carrie. I loved how they supported one another and the fact that they, as a couple, were fairly low drama and didn’t play games with each other. The banter between them is fun and entertaining, and the great secondary characters add a lovely layer to their story as the all support each other and add comic relief to the story. Broken Hearts is truly a perfect addition to this series, but also a really good book read as a standalone.

She’s the epitome of strong and independant, forced to keep to herself because of her heart condition. There are some heavy moments in this story that Rhett and Sienna go through, but I love how they navigate things together and with the help of their crew rooting for them together and as individuals. The serial monogamist stuck in a seemingly toxic relationship seemed so closed off emotionally to his friends, despite being a stoic and steady presence. From the beginning of this series Carrie was over the top and I liked that it didn’t stop cold turkey just because they were broken up. After their initial inauspicious meeting and Sienna’s misconception about Rhett’s character, they form a tentative friendship that’s sizzling with chemistry. The Valley U crew is there to nudge Sienna and Rhett in the right direction as they get to know each other. One thing I love about Jenshak's books is that they all aren't just revolving around one sport, but several. Rhett didn't even like her and had nothing good to say about her, all his friends hated her, so seriously who cares? She's a college athlete about to skate for the last time, and nothing is going to throw her off course. Sierra - let me tell you about Sierra, this character is hands down my favorite character that Jenshak as written. Although the book was highly amusing at times, mostly due to my fav Maverick, it dealt with some serious matters and had several sad moments that in my opinion make the book all that more special and impressive. Sienna was the perfect match for him and fit in with the Campus Nights crew as if she had always been there.

Both main characters where athlete's and both dealing with some circumstances that at times got a little intense/heavy but I loved the way the story played out and found that I was never once bored. The characters from the books before play a great role in this book as well, which made me really happy, as I’m totally in love with all of them! He was always one of my favourites; quiet and mysterious, and I was so looking forward to finally reading Rhetts book and finding out more about him. When the conflict happened every other author/character would have taken Sierra down a needy-whiney-poor-me rabbit hole. who she was a person), but Rhett stayed with her for multiple reason, which we find out in this book and honestly, once you get to know Rhett, he is loyal, sweet, smart, pretty much everything you’d want in a long term partner and I can see why Carrie – his ex – didn’t want to give him up.Not her worries about finding a job after college, not the whispers of last year’s accident on the ice, and not the cute hockey player who keeps asking her out. Even though my favourite sports to read about are hockey (like this series is) or football, I do crave different settings and new things to learn about from time to time. Sienna is such a strong female lead, she’s not shy about her condition but she’s determined to be who she is without the heart condition getting in the way. It’s what every romance reader in the world has been waiting for, an ice hockey player and an ice skater! It carried over in his new relationship with Sierra which showed that is just the type of man he is and it certainly made me fall harder for him.
