About this deal

Because even though the senior activities were fun, without my mom they were void of sentimentality. As I said, I could see bits of myself in Liz but I was definitely in awe of how she embraced her personality. Wes jumped down and held up his hands in the universal I’m innocent pose, even though his smirk made him look anything but. I think I was a bit hesitant going into this one because recently there weren’t many YA books that blew my mind, and I thought I outgrew them, but in here there was some kind of magic, and I think it’s due to the fact that this book, at least in my opinion, reads more as a romance book than a contemporary YA one.

And as they continue to grow closer, she must reexamine everything she thought she knew about love—and rethink her own ideas of what Happily Ever After should look like. This little indie starred a host of early 2000s-era young talent who were often in the tabloids themselves, including Wilmer Valderrama, Macaulay Culkin, and Mia Kirshner. These rocky, awkward moments just made Liz come across as all the more real and, for me, made her that much more likable and relatable. Others view Liz as a bit unconventional, her dress sense and her love of the romantic comedies – Michael only really notices Liz when she dresses differently and seems to mostly still view her as the child in the street who made people perform in plays. However, when the time comes, Liz realizes she has real feelings for Wes and is no longer interested in Michael.

When I got to English Lit, I walked to the back of the room and took a seat at the desk between Joss and Laney Morgan, sliding my headphones down to my neck.

But as Liz and Wes scheme to get Liz noticed by Michael s My best friend was a perpetual oversleeper, so there was rarely a day when she wasn’t scrambling to put on her eyeliner before the bell rang. She asks her neighbour and childhood frenemy Wes to help her out in exchange for the good parking spot they’ve been fighting over for months. Not only is Lynn Painter’s new novel Better Than the Movies a delightful rom-com that features fake dating and the enemies-to-lovers trope, but it’s also filled with perfectly placed references to all of my favorite rom-com films.

It’s Liz’s senior year and whilst everyone is out there enjoying things for the last time with parents, she feels left out because she can’t experience those with her mother. The romance is absolutely swoon worthy, Wes and Liz's relationship will have you laughing and on the verge of tears throughout the whole book. It’s full of pop culture references (from Taylor Swift to To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before) as well as references to all the classic rom-coms ( Bridget Jones, When Harry Met Sally, and more). Wes was the kid who put a frog in her Barbie Dreamhouse, the monster who hid a lawn gnome’s severed head in her little homemade neighborhood book exchange.I love all things autumnal and baking year-round, plus I adore cats with a passion (because who doesn't?
