About this deal

When the Nazis reach the town where she’s based, Kristina makes a daring escape but doesn’t realise that she’s carrying a stowaway in her plane. When you’re at death’s door, life’s not expected to be much fun, even – or especially – when it’s the door to Room 9, the one with the smiley. I would recommend this book to people who like reading YA books about reality, and people who enjoy stories set outside the US, because the Scottish setting is a great bonus.

No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. With little income and no way to live off their poor land, Maggie tries to provide for her family the way her father always had - with his hunting rifle and whatever animals the forest would provide. Forming an unlikely friendship with fellow juvenile delinquent Skeates, the pair stage a break out and set off on a crazy tour across Scotland to find Connor's dad, an inmate at Shotts prison.Unfortunately, his parents have sent him off to the North London Academy for the Gifted and Talented, where everyone's planning Hollywood domination or starting alt-metal psychedelica crossover bands. There are several moments when despair leaks out of Connor and you can't help but feel as nervous or sad as he does. I feel in love with Edinburgh a little over a year ago and I always love going back, even through books. Now the girl who has never left the city walls must fight to survive in a living nightmare, where one false turn with who to trust means a certain dead end.

I did initially think it was a little unrealistic that Connors sister died AND his dad was in prison AND his mum was having a nervous breakdown AND he had cancer . His style and compassion made me think of John Green's books - but with an added Scottish twist and humour - pure genius! But Connor’s left two things behind — the medication he needs to keep him alive, and the girl who makes living bearable. The real beauty of this book is that it's about two boys on an adventure who form an unlikely alliance and "never quit.

Not only is Farewell Tour of Terminal Optimist on the shortlist for Cheshire Schools Book Awards - it is off for a reprint already! His sister died, and his dad’s in prison (although his mom refuses to let him visit or even tell him why his dad’s been incarcerated for the last 9 years). Despite their former rivalry, Connor and Skeates form an alliance and set out on a road trip (of sorts) to see Connor's dad in prison with a little money and without Connor's seven medications he takes twice a daily to keep his cancer at bay. Seller has stated it will dispatch the item within 1 working day upon receipt of cleared payment - opens in a new window or tab .

The characters were realisitic and funny, the storyline was exciting and it was hard to put the book down. The sun is dying, crops are failing and the local inhabitants fear that the end of the world is near. Happy go lucky Harry Soul has his future prosperity hidden in a black bag but The Macadam thugs are after it.But Connor's left two things behind - the medication he needs to keep him alive, and the girl who makes living bearable. Brilliant Scottish Book Trust video trailer winner Sophie McIntosh from St Joseph's Academy Ayrshire https://www. As the wolves rise from the darkness of history, and long-buried secrets resurface, Innis's adventure truly begins . Sure he’s crushing on his best “girl friend,” Emma, and he has daily run-ins with the school bully, Skeates. But, ultimately, this is a book about bravery and bloody-mindedness and it's made me look closely at roundabouts.
